Decades of passion for flight, built into every aircraft we produce.
Our Story
From Ultralight Trainers to World-Class Sport Aircraft
SlipStream Aircraft traces its roots to the early 1990s, when the company was founded with a single mission: put more pilots in the air. The earliest SlipStream designs were ultralight trainers — simple, reliable, and forgiving aircraft that introduced thousands of new pilots to the freedom of flight.
As the FAA's Light Sport Aircraft rules took shape in the mid-2000s, SlipStream evolved with them. The company embraced the new sport pilot category and redesigned its lineup to meet the demands of a new generation of pilots who wanted performance, versatility, and the freedom to build and modify their own aircraft.
In 2006, the company was acquired by its current ownership, who brought fresh investment and a renewed commitment to quality. Under new leadership, SlipStream expanded its model lineup, refined its manufacturing processes, and built a global customer base that now spans multiple continents. SlipStream is now based in Beloit, Wisconsin.
Experimental Amateur-Built
Freedom to Fly Your Way
Every SlipStream aircraft is classified as an Experimental Amateur-Built (E-AB) sport aircraft — not a certified production airplane. That distinction matters. It means you, as the builder and owner, have the freedom to modify, upgrade, and customize your aircraft any way you see fit. Want to swap the engine, add avionics, or change the paint scheme? It's your aircraft — you make the call. This philosophy of owner empowerment has been at the heart of SlipStream since day one.
- Two-seat sport class configuration
- Fully owner-modifiable — no certification restrictions
- Available as kit builds or factory-built aircraft
- Compatible with a wide range of engines and avionics
